Terms of Service

Welcome to CoupleGoals. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the CoupleGoals mobile application (the “App”) provided by Yannick Ormen (“we,” “us,” or “CoupleGoals”). By using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Who can use CoupleGoals

CoupleGoals is designed for adults in committed relationships. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the App. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older.

2. Your account

To use most features of CoupleGoals, you create an account using your email address (with a password, or via Google or Apple sign-in). You are responsible for:

Providing accurate information at signup.
Keeping your account credentials secure.
All activity that occurs under your account.
Notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

You may have only one account per person. You may not share your account with anyone, including your partner.

3. How CoupleGoals works

CoupleGoals helps couples build shared habits and track meaningful moments together. The App lets you and your paired partner:

Set and track shared and individual challenges (habits).
Create shared and personal to-dos.
Maintain a shared agenda of events.
React to each other’s progress with reactions called “Sparks.”
See your partner’s activity in real time.

Pairing requires both partners to install the App, create accounts, and accept the pairing invitation. Once paired, certain data is shared between both partners as described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Your content

You retain all rights to the content you create in the App (titles, notes, dates, etc.). By creating content within a paired couple, you grant your partner the right to view, interact with, and (in some cases, depending on the feature) edit that content.

You grant CoupleGoals a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely as needed to operate the App. We do not claim ownership of your content and we do not use it for any purpose other than providing the App’s services.

5. What you may not do

When using CoupleGoals, you agree NOT to:

Use the App for any illegal purpose or in violation of any law.
Create content that is unlawful, harassing, abusive, defamatory, obscene, or that infringes on someone else’s rights.
Attempt to access another user’s account or data without authorization.
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the App’s source code (except as expressly permitted by law).
Use the App to harass, threaten, intimidate, or harm anyone, including your paired partner.
Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, etc.) to interact with the App.
Resell or redistribute the App without our written permission.
Bypass or attempt to bypass any security features, rate limits, or access controls.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

6. Pairing and your partner

CoupleGoals is built around the relationship between two people. By using the App with a partner, you agree that:

You will treat your partner with respect within the App.
Certain data you create may be visible to your partner (as described in the App’s UI and in our Privacy Policy).
If your relationship ends, either partner can leave the couple by deleting their account, which will also delete shared couple data (see Section 8 and our Privacy Policy).
We are not responsible for relationship conflicts, disagreements, or harms that arise between paired partners. CoupleGoals is a tool, not a counselor.

If you experience abuse, threats, or harm from your paired partner through the App, you can immediately delete your account from within the App. If you are in danger, please contact local emergency services.

7. Notifications

CoupleGoals sends push notifications to keep you informed of your partner’s activity, your own commitments, and other meaningful moments. You can manage notification preferences in your device settings and within the App’s Settings screen. Disabling notifications may reduce the App’s usefulness but will not prevent you from using core features.

8. Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the App (Settings → Delete Account).

Important: CoupleGoals is a paired application. Deleting your account also deletes all shared couple data — challenges, events, to-dos, reactions, and history that you and your partner created together. Your partner will lose access to this shared history. This action cannot be undone.

We will display a clear confirmation before deletion.

9. Service availability

We work to keep CoupleGoals available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The App may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, third-party service outages (e.g. Firebase, Apple Push Notification service), or unforeseen technical issues.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the App at any time. If we discontinue the App entirely, we will give reasonable advance notice and provide a way for you to export your content.

10. Updates and changes to the App

We continuously improve CoupleGoals. We may add features, change features, or remove features at any time. Some updates may require accepting new permissions or installing a new version of the App.

11. Beta features (TestFlight)

If you are using CoupleGoals through Apple’s TestFlight program, you understand that:

The App is in beta and may contain bugs, incomplete features, or unexpected behavior.
Data created in the beta may be lost during testing.
We may collect additional diagnostic data to help us improve the App.
TestFlight access may end at any time, with or without notice.
Your feedback during the beta is appreciated but not guaranteed to result in changes.

12. Intellectual property

CoupleGoals and its design, branding, code, and content (excluding your user-generated content) are owned by Yannick Ormen and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute any part of the App without our written permission.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE FROM VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

Nothing in this Section limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law in your country, including the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

14. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, YANNICK ORMEN SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM SHALL NOT EXCEED CHF 100 OR THE EQUIVALENT IN YOUR LOCAL CURRENCY.

This Section does not exclude liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Yannick Ormen from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

Your violation of these Terms.
Your violation of any law or third-party right.
Content you create or share through the App.

16. Termination

You may stop using CoupleGoals at any time by deleting the App from your device or deleting your account.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the App. Where reasonable, we will give you notice and an opportunity to export your data before termination.

17. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Swiss law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Geneva, Switzerland, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence requires otherwise.

If you are a consumer based in the EU or UK, you retain all mandatory protections of your local consumer law.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify you within the App or by email. Continued use of the App after a change indicates your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to a change, you may delete your account.
